1988-10-28 Greg Haugen w rtd 10 Gert Bo Jacobsen, Brondby Hall, Copenhagen, Denmark - IBF. Referee: Randy Neumann. After a quiet opener, the champion picked it up in the second when boxing behind the jab to land rights over the top and although Jacobsen (135) scored points with left and right hooks in the fourth and fifth he hardly made a dent. In the sixth it was clear that Haugen (135) was beginning to step up a gear, mixing up left hooks to the body and cracking rights to the head, and right through to the tenth there was more of the same. There was no respite for Jacobsen now and Haugen drove him around the ring before countering the Dane’s attempted right hander with one of his own which landed first and dropped the former flat on his back. Somehow beating the count Jacobsen was allowed to continue, only for his corner to immediately throw in the towel on the 1.20 mark when it was apparent that he had no chance of winning.
