29 October Raul Perez w pts 12 Miguel Lora, Hilton Hotel Events Centre, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - WBC. Referee: Mills Lane. Scorecards: 117-111, 116-112, 115-113. In an exciting contest, despite a lack of knockdowns, the lanky 5’11” Perez (118) overcame the champion’s early lead to pound out a solid points win when taking the last six rounds on the judges’ scorecards. Full of classy boxing, in the opening sessions Lora (117½), his normal flashy self, was countering the Mexican and making him miss before getting off quality left hooks. However, as the fight wore on and Perez won round after round it became clear that Lora had to work harder, but he was unable to change tactics and ultimately fell short.
