1989-01-14 Michael Moorer w rsc 2 Victor Claudio, Auburn Hills Palace, Detroit, Michigan, USA - WBO. Referee: Sam Williams. Coming in as a late substitute after Art Jimmerson was forced to pull out with a bad ear infection, Claudio (173¼) was no match for the new champion and was quickly under attack. This, despite the Puerto Rican throwing punches from both hands in a hectic start. Saved by the bell at the end of the first, having been dropped by a southpaw left, Claudio made it out for the second round, but Moorer (175) was on to him in a flash. With the challenger on the ropes being battered unmercifully the moment he dropped to his knees the referee stopped the fight, 25 seconds into the session.
