1989-01-21 Juan Martin Coggi w pts 12 Harold Brazier, Sports Palace, Vasto, Italy - WBA. Referee: John Coyle. Scorecards: 116-113, 118-114, 119-111. Fighting in spurts, the champion was still too good for Brazier (139¾), who posed too much and rarely let the right hand go, especially when that punch was the one recognised as being the antidote for a southpaw. As the action, or lack of it continued it developed into a bit of a brawl and the referee had his hands full trying to keep order, but in the tenth Coggi (139¾) finally woke up to drop Brazier with a left-hand counter. Making it to his feet Brazier rallied somewhat, but with Coggi beginning to tire rapidly and unable to turn his superiority to advantage the contest merely petered out.
