Contesting the inaugural WBO title at the weight, Castro (134) dominated the first eight rounds before Aceves (134) got into his stride in the ninth with body punches putting the Colombian on the back foot. Subsequently, Aceves took over, flooring Castro with a right-left combination in the 12th. Although Castro was up quickly he was soon under severe pressure, but somehow made it to the bell.
