1989-01-28 Maurizio Stecca w rsc 6 Pedro Nolasco, Sports Palace, Milan, Italy - WBO. Despite the WBO not being recognised by the Italian Boxing Federation, the contest was allowed to go ahead and on winning Stecca became the new organisation’s first champion at the weight. Although he put up a decent fight until the fourth round, Nolasco, cut over the right eye in the first, had no real right to be fighting for a world title and was out of the Italian’s class. The fourth saw Stecca pouring on the pressure, and in the fifth Nolasco was cut around the left eye. It was now just a matter of time and when the Dominican turned his back on Stecca in the sixth session the referee called it off.
