1989-01-28 Maurizio Stecca w rsc 6 Pedro Nolasco, Sports Palace, Milan, Italy - WBO. Despite the WBO not being recognised by the Italian Boxing Federation the contest was allowed to go ahead, Stecca becoming the new organisation’s first champion at the weight on winning. Although he put up a decent fight until the fourth round, Nolasco, cut over the right eye in the first, had no real right to be fighting for a world title, being out of the Italian’s class. The fourth saw Stecca pouring on the pressure, and in the fifth Nolasco was cut around the left eye. With it now just a matter of time, when the Dominican turned his back on Stecca in the sixth session the referee called it off.
