1989-03-19 Yul-Woo Lee w rsc 9 German Torres, Chungmu Gym, Taejon, South Korea - WBC. Referee: Marty Denkin. In a slugging match with little to choose between the men in the first six rounds, Torres (107½) won the seventh with hooks and uppercuts to head and body before Lee (107¾) took charge in the eighth as the challenger became fatigued. At this stage it was all one way as Lee battered Torres, who was carrying a badly swollen face, around the ring until the referee had seen enough and called a halt at 2.14 of the ninth. Torres had been penalised a point for rabbit punching in the fifth.
