1989-03-25 Taoufik Belbouli w rsc 8 Michael Greer, Sheraton Hotel, Casablanca, Morocco - WBA. Referee: Nicasio Drake. Fighting for one of the titles relinquished by Evander Holyfield, Belbouli (189½) was just too strong for Greer (189½), who was dropped heavily by a big right to the head in the fourth and just about survived the round. From then on Belbouli was very much in control and even though Greer gave it an almighty effort in the seventh the latter was being overwhelmed in the eighth when the referee came to his rescue. Belbouli relinquished the WBA version of the title in August 1989 following a long-term knee injury.
