1989-04-15 [[Fidel Bassa]] w rsc 6 [[Julio Gudino]], Berran Country Club, Barranquilla, Colombia - WBA. Referee: Isidro Rodriguez. The challenger made a reasonable start, but appeared tired in the third round after a cut was opened up over his left eye. That looked like the beginning of the end until Gudino (112) came back strongly, and in the fifth he pounded away at Bassa (112) with hard blows that left the champion with a badly swollen face. That was the wake-up call for Bassa who came out in the sixth with hard left-hand punches that sent the Panamanian into a corner defenceless and brought about the 46-second stoppage.
