Fighting for the title vacated by Leo Gamez , Kim (104¾) took charge in the third round when pinning Garcia (104¼) down and pounding him with a shower of punches that lasted a minute before the latter was saved by the bell. Kim continued to pick away and in the sixth had Garcia hanging on for dear life. Finally, after 45 seconds of the seventh had elapsed the referee stopped the contest when Garcia was left reeling on the ropes, having been hammered by vicious combination punches.
