1989-04-22 [[Mark Breland]] w rsc 5 [[Rafael Pineda]], Trump Castle Hotel, Atlantic City, New Jersey, USA - WBA. Referee: Ted Pick. Making his first defence, Breland (146¾) had a shaky first round before spraining his left knee in the second and being forced to trade when he would rather have been using the left jab. By the fourth, however, Breland had got the jab working and Pineda (145¼) was looking decidedly shaky. After complaining about being thumbed in the eye and turning his back on his opponent, Pineda was punished with blows to the head. In the fifth, again Pineda, his left eye swelling, turned his back on Breland, and this time the referee stopped the fight, the finish being timed at 1.14 of the session.
