1989-05-10 Mike McCallum w pts 12 Herol Graham, Royal Albert Hall, Kensington, London, England - WBA. Referee: Enzo Montero. Scorecards: 117-115, 115-114, 113-117. Contested for the vacant title, although Graham (159¾) made a fairly good start, landing good scoring punches before getting away unscathed, in the third round he allowed himself to caught far too often by the slower but harder punching McCallum (159). Still, Graham took the initiative in the fourth and in the fifth dropped McCallum with a short right hook before going on to take the next session using his skill to the full. However, in the seventh Graham allowed himself to get caught too often and in the eighth he was deducted a point for throwing his man, an action that cost him dearly. From thereon, especially after his right eye began to close during the tenth, Graham let the contest slip away by not doing enough and even though both fighters were exhausted by the tenth, it was McCallum who did the better work.
