1989-06-17 [[Nico Thomas]] w pts 12 [[Samuth Sithnaruepol]], Senayan Sports Palace, Jakarta, Indonesia - IBF. Referee: Abraham Pacheco. Scorecards: 115-111, 115-111, 119-108. Showing a poor defence, the flat-footed champion was floored in the first and fifth rounds by powerful right-lefts before fighting back to inflict cuts over both of Thomas’ eyes. By the middle rounds Sithnaruepol (105) had begun to use his reach advantage, and in the latter rounds he staggered Thomas (105) with two-fisted attacks, but it was too little and too late.
