1989-07-21 Mike Tyson w rsc 1 Carl Williams, Convention Centre, Atlantic City, New Jersey, USA - IBF/WBA/WBC. Referee: Randy Neumann. Boxing well from the opening bell, his 14-inch reach advantage allowing him to keep the champion on the end of the jab, it looked like Williams (218) might be the man to give Tyson (219¼) a fair test but in leaving his right hand low he paid the price when caught by a crashing left hook to the jaw. Dropped heavily and after making two attempts to get off the floor, the referee, himself a former heavyweight boxer, called the fight off with only 93 seconds on the clock, stating that Williams had looked to be concussed and was unable to respond to a simple question.
