1989-07-30 Julian Jackson w rsc 2 Terry Norris, Convention Centre, Atlantic City, New Jersey, USA - WBA. Referee: Joe Cortez. Having boxed a smart fight in the first round, the challenger started well, with plenty of lateral movement, and even shook Jackson (153¼) up on occasion to win the session on all three cards. It later transpired that Jackson wanted to see what his rival could do and after sizing Norris (152) up he took him to the ropes in the second before smashing in a cracking right to the head that dropped him heavily. Surprisingly up ‘nine’, although shaky and unsteady on his legs, the referee had a good look at Norris before deciding that he was not fit to continue on the 1.37 mark.

Jackson relinquished the WBA version of the title in September 1990 to challenge for the vacant WBC middleweight crown.
