1989-09-20 [[Simon Brown]] w rsc 2 [[Bobby Joe Young]], War Memorial Auditorium, Rochester, New York, USA - IBF. Referee: Joe Santarpia. Fighting for the first time in 14 months, the game Young (146½) gave it his best shot but was no match for Brown (146¼), who rode out the first-round storm and had a good look at his challenger before picking it up in the second. Coming out quickly, Brown soon got down to business and had Young’s legs going when belting in hurtful left hooks before putting the latter down with a heavy right. Although Young got up and was allowed to continue, even when the referee was jumping between the two men to make a stoppage on the 2.39 mark after the challenger had been sent reeling from a left hook, Brown fired in a big right that sent him crashing.
