1989-10-21 [[Glenn McCrory]] w co 11 [[Siza Makathini]], Eston Leisure Centre, Middlesbrough, England - IBF. Referee: Rudy Battle. Making his first defence, McCrory (190) found himself under the cosh during the opening five rounds as the much smaller Makathini (187) got inside, banging in hooks to head and body, and generally being on top. McCrory, who’d had difficulty making the weight, had been sluggish, but in the sixth all that changed as he went for Makathini as if his life depended on it, battering the South African from pillar to post. Although the action slowed somewhat after that, McCrory got more and more on top as Makathini tired and drew public warnings for holding, and in the 11th the latter was sent crashing in his own corner after taking lefts and rights without response. Making no attempt to get up, the challenger was counted out at 1.07 of the session.
