1989-12-03 Boone Pultz w pts 12 Magne Havnaa, Scandinavia Hotel, Copenhagen, Denmark - WBO. Referee: Stan Christodoulou. Scorecards: 116-113, 115-114, 115-118. In a contest to decide the WBO’s first champion at the weight it was the switch-hitting Pultz (182) who impressed two of the judges, despite his work-rate slumping in the final third. Even a cut over his right eye suffered in the seventh failed to slow Havnaa (189) down, and having forced the fight for much of the time he appeared to have done enough to win, his left jab and body attacks being prominent. At the bell Havnaa was odds on favourite, but following the clamour afterwards he was given an early opportunity of a return.
