1989-12-03 Daniel Zaragoza w pts 12 Chan-Young Park, Sunin University Gym, Inchon, South Korea - WBC. Referee: Larry O’Connell. Scorecards: 116-115, 115-113, 116-116. It was certainly a close call, but the crafty Zaragoza (121¾) just about did enough to retain his title against the dangerous Park (122), who tired badly in the last two rounds and was unable to build on his earlier work. After a slow start Park had turned loose his combinations in round two, and while keeping up the good work in the third the southpaw Zaragoza took the fourth and fifth sessions with excellent one-twos that were followed up with solid right hooks. The next couple of rounds swung both ways, but then Park came on strong in the eighth, ninth and tenth rounds, his incessant and furious rallies driving Zaragoza before him. Although Park should have ended the fight in the latter stages he put too much in without picking his punches better and paid the consequences.
