1989-12-10 Mark Breland w rsc 4 Fujio Ozaki, Korakuen Hall, Tokyo, Japan - WBA. Referee: Julio Alvarado. Proving much too clever for his challenger and six inches to the good, Breland (146¼) used speedy left jabs and solid overarm rights to undo his man in the opening two sessions, having hurt him with the first worthwhile punch of the contest. Although Ozaki (146¾) began his fightback in the third, Breland easily avoided the wild punches coming his way and towards the end of the round had opened up a bad cut on the Jap’s right eye. After coming out for the fourth with his damaged eye patched up, within moments Ozaki had been caught again by stinging lefts and with the eye pouring blood the ringside doctor advised the referee to make the stoppage with just 35 seconds on the clock.
