1990-01-27 Carlos De Leon drew 12 Johnny Nelson, City Hall, Sheffield, England - WBC. Referee: Bob Logist. Scorecards: 116-115, 111-117, 115-115. Unable to lift his game against a very ordinary champion, Nelson (190) stayed out of range for much of the time, trying to nick points with a flicking jab. It was never much of a fight and in the 11th the referee called for more action to no avail. Throughout, De Leon (188¾) barely exerted himself, realising that Nelson had to work harder if he wanted to take his title and there was so little action that there was booing from the fourth round onwards. A difficult fight to score, it would have been a travesty had Nelson won.
