1990-01-28 [[John John Molina]] w rsc 6 [[Lupe Suarez]], Trump Plaza, Atlantic City, New Jersey, USA - IBF. Referee: Steve Smoger. Jumping on the southpaw Suarez (130) from the start, smashing home right after right, Molina (130) had his rival over twice in the opening round, gashed his right eye badly in the third and at that stage it looked to be all over. But the challenger was nothing but game and he continued to soak up punishment well into the fifth when the referee asked the doctor to inspect the eye damage. Allowed to continue into the sixth, Suarez still plodded into the firing line before the referee had seen enough after Molina had landed a particularly hurtful cluster of combinations that left American dazed but still standing and called it off with 17 seconds of the session remaining.
