1990-02-03 [[Hector Camacho]] w pts 12 [[Vinny Pazienza]], Convention Hall, Atlantic City, New Jersey, USA - WBO. Referee: Tony Perez. Scorecards: 117-116, 115-112, 119-109. With Pazienza (138) knowing that if he was to have any success whatsover he would have to close the champion down and work the body the stage was set. However, for round after round Pazienza was unable to find the range and even when he closed more often than not he found Camacho (140) just too fast for him, to such an extent he was left floundering. The tenth was probably Camacho’s best round and to celebrate he ripped open a cut over Pazienza’s left eye with a solid right uppercut, an injury he constantly hammered away at for the remainder of the round. For Pazienza, knowing he had to score a knockout to win he tore into the tiring Camacho during the last two sessions and although it was a strong finish it was not enough.
