1990-02-03 Michael Moorer w rtd 9 Marcellus Allen, Convention Hall, Atlantic City, New Jersey, USA - WBO. Referee: Frank Cappuccino. Refusing to stand in front of Moorer the light-hitting Allen (175) was soon on his bike, a tactic that initially made life difficult for the southpaw champion. Unable to pin Allen down, instead of cutting the ring down Moorer (175) chased him for round after round without being able to get heavy shots off. Moorer was obviously well ahead on aggression alone, but it was only in the ninth that the fast tiring Allen began to get caught with heavy punches, which led to his corner sensibly retiring him during the interval.
