1990-03-22 Jeff Lampkin w co 3 Glenn McCrory, Leisure Centre, Gateshead, England - IBF. Referee: Randy Neumann. Continuing to have difficulty making the weight, McCrory (189½) soon found that his challenger meant business even though the opening two rounds were relatively even. Coming into the third it was clear that Lampkin (188¼) had the power, and he began closing down the space to get in jabs and hooks to head and body as McCrory’s jabs lost their way. It was the body that Lampkin was concentrating on and getting closer and closer to McCrory he suddenly found a tremendous left hook to the ribs that sent the latter down on one knee to be counted out with 40 seconds of the session remaining. Unable to get to his feet, McCrory was taken to hospital where it was discovered that he had a badly swollen liver but no broken bones.
