1990-04-04 Juan Nazario w rsc 8 Edwin Rosario, Madison Square Garden, Manhattan, NYC, New York, USA - WBA. Referee: Luis Rivera. In another foul-filled fight between the pair Rosario (134½) lost his title to the southpaw Nazario (135), who started as he meant to carry on by crowding out his rival and working the body. With heads clashing on a number of occasions it was no surprise when Nazario was cut over the right eye in the fourth round, but he came back strongly to almost floor Rosario with a solid left later in the session. After being pinned down for much of the time, another butt opened up a bad cut over Rosario’s right eye in the seventh and the bout was eventually stopped by the referee at the end of the eighth when he felt that the latter should not be allowed to continue.
