1990-04-14 Mike McCallum w co 11 Michael Watson, Royal Albert Hall, Kensington, London, England - WBA. Referee: Roberto Ramirez. Although Watson (160) forced the pace for much of the fight the cagey champion, using solid blows to the head and body, was far too experienced to fight his rival’s fight and by the fifth the Englishman was running out of ideas. By the eighth, Watson was taking a fair amount of blows to the head as McCallum (159¾) sensing an early win leathered into him, but he hung in through the pain and despite being desperately tired made it through to the end of the tenth. Into the 11th, however, Watson was now at the mercy of McCallum and eventually three solid blows sent the challenger reeling into the ropes before a crashing right to the head put him down for the full count. The finish was timed at 2.22.
