1990-04-21 Robert Quiroga w pts 12 Juan Polo Perez, Crowtree Leisure Centre, Sunderland, England - IBF. Referee: Dale Grable. Scorecards: 114-113, 115-112, 116-112. Making his intentions clear from the start, Quiroga (114¼) immediately took up the offensive, the left jab-left hook showing the way home, and cut Perez (114¾) by the right eye during the second round. Although the champion was unable to move up a gear in the earlier rounds he finally got the right uppercut going in the sixth. However, he failed to sustain any real pressure, leaving the popular Quiroga, who was cut over the right eye in the 11th, to come home on all three judges’ cards.
