1990-05-20 Tony Lopez w pts 12 John John Molina, Lawlor Events Centre, Reno, Nevada, USA - IBF. Referee: Richard Steele. Scorecards: 115-112, 114-113, 113-114. Having dropped his title to Molina (129½) earlier, Lopez (129¾) was not expected to regain it, especially after he had been outboxed over the opening four rounds. However, by the sixth he was beginning to get to Molina, who seemed happy to stand and trade, and by the eighth the body shots began to take their effect on the champion. Despite having a brief rally in the tenth, Molina was smashed to the canvas in the 11th and, lucky to survive, never really recovered as he struggled to make it through the remaining session where the bell came as a welcome relief.
