1990-07-07 Virgil Hill w pts 12 Tyrone Frazier, Civic Centre, Bismark, North Dakota, USA - WBA. Referee: Billy Yohan. Scorecards: 120-109, 120-108, 120-108. Despite a wide points win, Hill (175) failed to impress against a challenger who was only just recovering from an operation for a detached retina. There was very little fighting of note from Hill throughout, apart from a big left that sent Frazier (173) through the ropes in the second and a few solid right hands, one of which stunned him in the 11th. Afterwards, Hill could not really explain what was wrong, although those around him felt that the left thumb he had broken a few months earlier, which had to be pinned, had something to do with it.
