1990-07-08 Aaron Davis w co 9 Mark Breland, Harrah’s Hotel & Casino, Reno, Nevada, USA - WBA. Referee: Mills Lane. Despite having a seven-inch-reach advantage on his challenger, Breland (146¼) still had difficulty in keeping him at bay, being rocked in virtually every round. By the third Davis (146) had a swollen right eye that would require regular inspections by the doctor, while Breland’s left eye was also swelling up. As the fight progressed Davis seemed to be getting the upper hand, but as Breland began to come back into it the eighth saw both men in trouble. Somehow refreshed, Davis came out for the ninth swinging with the left before Breland got to him again, but towards the end of the session a desperate right from the challenger smashed into the latter’s face, leaving him to be counted out on the 2.56 mark.
