1990-09-02 [[Israel Contreras]] w rsc 9 [[Ray Minus]], Carnival Crystal Palace Resort, Nassau, Bahamas - WBO. Referee: Frank Santore. Starting strongly, the champion quickly made his mark, but in the latter stages of the second round he was floored for ‘eight’ by a surprise left hook as Minus (118) looked to get going. Picking up the action in the third, the aggressive Contreras (118) sent Minus to the floor with a straight right and again dropped the Bahamian in the fourth, this time courtesy of a right hook. Subsequently there was only one man in it and, in the ninth, Contreras ripped home a series of combination punches which saw Minus, already suffering a fractured jaw, drop to the canvas just as the referee called a halt with just 19 seconds of the round remaining.
