1990-11-22 Robert Daniels drew 12 Taoufik Belbouli, Sports Palace, Madrid, Spain - WBA. Referee: Ernesto Magana. Scorecards: 115-114, 115-115, 114-114. Giving the former undefeated champion a crack at his title, Daniels (186½) was in the lead after eight rounds having done the better work, scoring well to head and body, and generally controlling the fight. The ninth session saw Belbouli (188½) make his push for home before he really went to work in the tenth, hammering Daniels all over the ring and having him all but out. Daniels, to his credit, somehow remained upright and even finished the last two rounds fresher than Belbouli, who was still looking for a finishing blow. It had been a tough battle with neither deserving to lose.
