1990-11-30 Gianfranco Rosi w pts 12 Rene Jacquot, Sports Palace, Marsala, Italy - IBF. Referee: Joey Curtis. Scorecards: 118-110, 117-112, 115-113. In one of the poorest championship bouts on record, Rosi (152¾) held on to his title in a fight that had too much holding and mauling and too little boxing. There was also bad feeling between the two men. The contest started with Jacquot trying to force the action and looking for opportunities to land his right hand, only to be held up by Rosi, who wanted to remain at close quarters where his strength gave him the upper hand. Unfortunately for all concerned the two styles failed to mix and while Rosi deserved the win on account of his better work and Jacquot’s inability to land cleanly as a spectacle it was a disaster.
