1990-12-08 Julio Cesar Chavez w rsc 3 Kyung-Duk Ahn, Convention Centre, Atlantic City, New Jersey, USA - IBF/WBC. Referee: Tony Perez. Working well with the jab to head and body by the end of the first round Chavez (139) had switched his attack downstairs, and with the challenger already looking disconcerted as the punches ripped in it was clear as to which way the fight was heading. Keeping up the pressure Chavez did not disappoint, dropping Ahn (139) with a straight right at the start of the second. Although the South Korean was soon back in the fray he did not know how to cope with the controlled power and aggression of Chavez, being knocked over by a left hook before struggling up and surviving to the bell. Despite giving it his best shot in the third Ahn was quickly under pressure from body blows. And after a rib-breaking left hook knocked all the stuffing out of him and sent him down the referee stopped the fight at 2.14.
