1990-12-08 [[Masimilliano Duran]] w disq 12 [[Anaclet Wamba]], Sports Palace, Ferrara, Italy - WBC. Referee: Larry O’Connell. Making his first defence, Duran (187) was hardly convincing when relying on left hands alone to keep Wamba (189¾) at bay and the contest degenerated into a brawl, with the latter being deducted five points for head butts. The first came in round three when Duran’s left eye was cut, but the latter was partly at fault for continually holding and stopping Wamba from getting his punches off. Even with the point deductions Duran was only just ahead coming into the final session, but that counted for nothing when Wamba was disqualified with just nine seconds remaining when putting his head in yet again.
