1991-01-12 Charles Williams w pts 12 Mwehu Beya, Sports Palace, St Vincent, Aosta, Italy - IBF. Referee: Frank Cappuccino. Scorecards: 116-112, 115-113, 116-113. Not at his best, the champion was forced to hang on for the last two rounds as Beya (172) made a big effort to make up lost ground. Although Williams (172½) started well enough, making the fight as Beya backed off, he failed to capitalise mainly due to injuring his right hand in the fourth. The further the fight went the more confident Beya, who was cut over left eye in the fifth, became and had he got his left jab working earlier it could have been different.
