12 March Gaby Canizales w co 2 Miguel Lora, Auburn Hills Palace, Detroit, Michigan, USA - WBO. Referee: Dale Grable. Contested for the title vacated by Israel Contreras, on winning Canizales (118) made history when he joined Orlando, the IBF champion, in becoming the only brothers to hold different versions of the world title in the same weight division at the same time. Despite a slow start, the extremely fast Lora (118) smashed Canizales down in the second with a wide left hook. Then, on getting up, just as the Colombian looked to finish matters, Canizales countered his man with a superb left hook that decked him. With the crowd going crazy, somehow Lora got to his feet before being dumped again and counted out on the 1.57 mark.
