1991-04-21 Luis Mendoza w pts 12 Carlos Uribe, Indian Bullring, Cartagena, Colombia - WBA. Referee: Julio Alvarado. Scorecards: 120-109, 118-112, 119-112. With neither fighter wishing to make the first move there was not a great deal of action and as early as the second round the referee called for more work. Apart from being hurt by Uribe (120¾) in the fifth, Mendoza (121) stuck to his plan of keeping the challenger at distance with the jab and ran out a convincing winner.
