1991-05-05 Gilbert Dele w pts 12 Jun-Suk Hwang, Carpentier Hall, Paris, France - WBA. Referee: Eddie Eckert. Scorecards: 118-114, 119-109, 119-109. Boxing in a sensible fashion against his tough challenger, Dele (154) showed an excellent left jab, backed up by solid uppercuts, to control the fight virtually throughout despite having a few anxious moments. By the fourth Hwang (154) was already showing signs of wear and tear and in the seventh, when under severe pressure, it looked as though he wouldn’t be around much longer. However, Hwang came back strongly in the eighth to confound Dele and his supporters, and although the latter sensibly kept it at long range from thereon to win comfortably he knew he had been in a fight.
