1991-06-22 Chris Eubank w pts 12 Michael Watson, Exhibition Centre, Earls Court, London, England - WBO. Referee: Frank Cappuccino. Scorecards: 116-113, 115-113, 114-114. This was a very close fight and although the champion appeared to be marginally ahead at the halfway stage, Watson (160) came on very strong towards the end. By the final bell Watson thought he had won by a country mile, but the heavier punches in the fight were landed by Eubank (160) and that was what ultimately gained him the decision. Eubank relinquished his WBO version of the title in July in order to challenge for the vacant WBO super middleweight crown.
