1991-08-31 Jesse Benavides w rsc 5 Fernando Ramos, Memorial Coliseum, Corpus Christi, Texas, USA - WBO. Referee: Robert Gonzalez. Making the first defence of his title, the southpaw Benavides (122) proved a worthy champion and his right jab was never far from the target throughout the time it lasted. After setting up Ramos (121) with the jab, the fifth round saw Benavides land heavily with left hooks to drop his rival and although the challenger managed to get up he was quickly pinned against the ropes where he soaked up many undefended blows before the referee called the fight off on the 2.06 mark.
