1991-10-04 Maurice Blocker w pts 12 Glenwood Brown, Resorts International, Atlantic City, New Jersey, USA - IBF. Referee: Joe Cortez. Scorecards: 117-111, 118-111, 114-115. Contesting the title given up by Simon Brown, the huge height and reach advantage that Blocker (147) had over Brown (147) was a major factor in him becoming a champion again. Towering over his rival, Blocker put out the jab all night while having little difficulty in avoiding punches coming his way apart from when Brown turned it into a brawl, tactics that suited him. In the ninth Brown began to sink in the body punches and had Blocker looking uncomfortable before he was able to get back on an even keel. The last two rounds were a bit of a letdown as both men were tired from their earlier exertions and Blocker cruised to victory. Surprisingly, one of the judges, Rocky Castellani, a former top middleweight, made Brown the winner, but luckily for Blocker the other two judges had been at the right fight.
