1992-01-18 Meldrick Taylor w pts 12 Glenwood Brown, Civic Centre, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - WBA. Referee: Rudy Battle. Scorecards: 114-113, 116-113, 116-113. Forcing Taylor (146¼) to come to him when knowing that fighting in front of his own fans he wanted to please, was a shrewd move on behalf of Brown (146½) and it almost paid off after a cracking left hook to the jaw in the first round had the champion over. Eventually, Taylor began working his way in behind the left jab, but he was again decked in the fourth when a right to the ribs sent him down for a flash knockdown. From thereon Taylor was more alert to the counters and he began to gradually take control of the fight despite having further nasty moments, his left hand working well as Brown’s swollen right eye testified at the final bell. Brown fought an astute campaign against a very good champion and was never that far away.
