Floored twice in the opening round, a left hook and a right hand doing the damage, Mercado (115) bravely made it through to the finishing post despite taking punishment throughout and being rocked heavily in the final session. The challenger even cut Quiroga (115) over the right eye in the sixth, but was always running second best and was well outpointed.
