Having shed some 23lbs prior to the fight, Chitalada (111½) was a shell of his old self and was put down in the second. Somehow surviving the ordeal he kept going, but cut over both eyes and being pounded around the ring by Kittikasem (112) the referee called a halt at 1.30 of the ninth to rescue the brave former champion.
