In a stunning upset, Vazquez (121), getting on top almost from the opening bell, floored the champion three times on his way to winning the title. Perez (120) was put down in the second round for an ‘eight’ count by a left hook and in the third he took another count after a heavy left had landed, before a third knockdown saw the referee call it off on the 2.27 mark.
