1992-06-09 [[John David Jackson]] w rtd 9 [[Pat Lawlor]], Civic Auditorium, San Francisco, California, USA - WBO. Referee: Raul Caiz. Assuming control at the sound of the bell, the elusive Jackson (154) made a difficult target for his challenger before landing terrific hooks to the body. Despite having victories over men such as Wilfred Benitez and Roberto Duran, the game Lawlor (151) proved to be limited at this level, especially in trying to solve the southpaw puzzle that was Jackson. By the ninth it was clear that Lawlor, badly cut over the left eye, wouldn’t have still been upright had Jackson possessed anything approaching punching power, but as it was he was still receiving a beating and when he was retired at the end of that session by his corner it came as no surprise.
