1992-06-23 Tracy Harris Patterson w rsc 2 Thierry Jacob, Knickerbocker Arena, Albany, New York, USA - WBC. Referee: Arthur Mercante (jnr). Although both men went through the feeling-out process, the action really took off towards the end of the first round as six unanswered rights and a heavy left hook dropped Jacob (120½), who staggered up to be saved by the bell. The champion still had not recovered sufficiently and Patterson (122), the adopted son of the former heavyweight champion, tore into him at the start of the second with left hooks to head and body. Barely in a position to defend himself the referee came to Jacob’s rescue 50 seconds into the session after a big right sent him stumbling along the ropes.
